If you've seen the Hospital Batsu Game Series, you'd remember this actor named, Tatsuo Umemiya, who appears at the very beginning(of hospital series) screaming "Claudia!" as his wife gets wheeled into the hospital. Well, he was a big time actor back in the 60's into the 70's, mainly playing the bad-ass yakuza type of roles in the majority of Japanese films. And I mean lots of films. I counted about 80 films this man was involved in that time era.
And we have this comedian Shoji Murakami who has been kind of known as the "one hit punchline" jokester who, apparently, is still punching with the same/similar jokes for the past 25 years. In this clip, he stays away from his usual one-liners, yet, if you're not familiar with his style, it's hard to make him funny in an English language.
One sad note, Itsuji Itao's daughter suddenly died earlier this week. I believe she was very young(like 1 or 2 year old young.) RIP

ReplyDeleteIt's upsetting to hear about Itao's daughter. From watching all of the Batsu games and the 5 Rangers episodes, Itao had become one of my favorite comedians.

Thats really sad, Itao is really funny now that we have seen so many clips of him. And it is tragic to have a daughter just simply pass away

That Shoji Murakami guy is the english teacher in the High School Batsu game! Its very sad to hear about Itao's lil girl. And having a lil girl myself, it just makes me want to hold her close, but I cannot protect her completely. She (Itao's lil girl)is with God the Father and God the son now (Jesus).

ReplyDeleteOn a lighter note, that "Claudia" woman, is she the one who played Princess Leia in the newspaper batsu? The one who fumbled (intentionally?) her lines. I just hadn't noticed the likeness before.
I notice that in this version, the interrogation happens at 6pm followed by the funeral at 7pm. In the commonly available version (from D-ADDICTS), the interrogation happens after 8pm, followed by the funeral at 9pm. Interesting how the various segments have been mixed and matched. I guess continuity is not a big deal in these games.

The 23-month-old daughter of Itsuji Itao, 46, from the comedy duo 130R, died suddenly of unknown causes, police said Monday. According to sources, on Sunday evening sometime after 11 p.m., the girl suddenly fell unconscious and was rushed to the hospital, where she died soon after. A hospital spokesman said the cause of death was undetermined.
Itao had attended a movie event earlier that day in Shinjuku.
The girl was Itao’s first child, born on Sept 21, 2007. In his book, “Itao’s Diary 3,” he went on at length about how “Pippi,” as he called her, was growing up. He had bought a video camera to film her before she was born, and commented just after her birth, “She looks just like me!”

That is so sad ; ; I wonder what happend? I have a niece a little younger than that and I couldn't imagine anything ever happening to her.
