(Hotel 05) Remember that movie, Ring?

Here's another veteran actress, Bibari Maeda, who can get the Gaki member's laughs rolling. She can also be seen in the "No Laughing Newspaper" series from 2008. I have to say she looks great for being 60-something year old.

Her name Bibari is not a common name in Japan, and it is because her American father originally named her "Beverly." But to make it easier for Japanese to pronounce, it's been changed to Bibari or in kanji characters, it's written like this; 美波里.

Here's Bibari Maeda circa '66

A name that gets mentioned many times in this clip, Yuko Takeuchi, is an actress. You might recognize her from the original Japanese horror movie called Ring (or Ringu.) But that was more than a decade ago. Anyhow, she's appeared in many Japanese TV dramas and movies since then. But most recently, you can catch her in the American TV show called the "Flash Forward" on ABC where she has an recurring role as a....what do you know? A Japanese woman.

NO, nobody will be crawling out of your TV. Stop crying!

And yes, I am on Twitter now. I'm posting anything Gaki related. And if you wanna be kept updated in real time on where I am with subbing, here's your helping hands.

Special thanks goes out to Alex

I've been seeing how well I fare at not laughing while watching, but Takeuchi Riki's inner thoughts really got me.

  6. Can anyone explain the "old school" joke about the manager's name?

  7. Mmm. I'm sorry if the part of "old-school joke" is causing some questions and confusions.

Matsumoto is merely pointing out the fact that this macho looking guy is introducing himself as someone who is a complete opposite (looks wise) than him, but with same family name, to solicit laughs. It's a childish and not polished or sophisticated way to get laughs, and it's been around for a while.

    Hope that helps.

  10. For the "old school joke": in fact Takeuchi Yuko is the name of a cute young actress who has done dramas and movies, that's why the comparison is quite funny when you see the opposition with the manly looks Takeuchi Riki has.

And thanks again Shibata for your hard work, this part is one of my favorites parts in all this batsu 2010

  11. has anybody noticed that, this year they're fairly lax with the punishment? Like in highschool or police, they second they show anything like a smile, they get punished but this time i've seen a few times the guys had big big big smiles on their face but didnt get punished.

  18. i don't think bibari is the same actress as the one in flashforward. i watch the show...and when i compare their facial features, it's totally different. beverly has a very prominent nose. plus the actress in flashforward is much younger...

  19. Shibata never said the actress in Flashforward is Bibari, he quite clearly said it's Yuko Takeuchi. You might want to try reading properly first.

Anywho, thank-you so much for this Shibata & Alex <333
